Park Sinyoung explores light as both a sculptural material and a language of contemplation, delving into the density of existence, the flow of time, and the subtle texture of emotion. For her, light is not merely a visual effect but a medium that expands perception and awareness at the boundary between form and the intangible.

A graduate of Ewha Womans University’s College of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture, Park has continuously expanded the boundaries between sculpture, installation, and painting. Her works embrace the coexistence of material and immaterial, intention and chance, revealing the flow of time through the density of light and the layering of color.

Beginning her practice in the early 1990s with sculptural works, Park later extended her experiments to LED and planar installations, expressing emotional resonance through subtle shifts in tone and luminosity. Rather than offering fixed narratives, her works unfold through the viewer’s gaze and sensory engagement, forming open structures that invite reflection on the depth of being and the passage of time.

박신영은 빛을 조형의 재료이자 사유의 언어로 다루며, 존재와 시간, 감정의 결을 탐구한다. 그에게 빛은 단순한 시각적 효과가 아니라, 형태와 무형의 경계에서 감각과 인식을 확장시키는 매개체다.

이화여자대학교 미술대학 조소과를 졸업한 그는 조각과 설치, 평면을 넘나들며 매체 간의 경계를 유연하게 확장해 왔다. 물질과 비물질, 계획과 우연이 공존하는 그의 작업은 빛의 농도와 색의 층위, 그리고 그 안에서 생성되는 시간의 흐름을 시각적으로 드러낸다.

그의 작업은 1990년대 초 조각으로 시작해 LED와 평면 설치로 확장되었으며, 빛의 농도와 색의 미묘한 변화 속에서 감정의 결을 드러낸다.

박신영은 빛을 시각적 효과로서가 아니라, 형태와 무형의 경계를 탐구하는 사유의 매개체로 다룬다. 작품은 특정한 서사를 제시하기보다 관람자의 시선과 감각 속에서 완성되는 열린 구조를 지니며, 이를 통해 존재의 깊이와 시간의 흐름을 성찰하게 한다.
